Afghanistan has announced a 15-member squad for the men’s cricket tournament at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya in Japan, running from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
Darwish Rasooli will lead a youthful side at the Games, which does not feature regular stars Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and the likes.
The Afghan Atalan have been drawn in Group A alongside host Japan and Nepal. The top two teams from the group will qualify for the knockout stage.
India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh have received direct entry into the quarterfinal round.
The Afghanistan squad also features a few national team regulars, including Karim Janat, Nangyal Kharoti and Nabi’s son Hassan Eisakhil.
