Rishabh Pant on Tuesday hit a half-century in the second innings against Sri Lanka in the first match in Galle, and in process completed 100 sixes in Test cricket.

He completed the haul in just his 89th innings, making him the fastest batter to achieve the feat. He is the first Indian and the fourth overall to record this achievement.

Ben Stokes (138), Brendan McCullum (107), Adam Gilchrist (100) are the only others to have achieved it before Pant. Gilchrist was the previous-fastest to 100 sixes in 130 innings, while Stokes and McCullum got to the three-figure mark in 151 and 170 innings, respectively.

For India, the previous best belonged to Virender Sehwag, who had accumulated 91 sixes through his 104-match career.
