Sudip Gharami scored the first century of Duleep Trophy 2026-27, reaching the mark in 131 balls for East Zone against North East Zone in their quarterfinal fixture at the BCCI Centre of Excellence ground in Bengaluru on Sunday.
The right-hand batter struck 18 boundaries on the way to his ninth First-Class ton.
Gharami, who plays for Bengal, was the standout batter for East Zone on the opening day, putting up a fight against the North East bowlers in conditions that were challenging to bat in.
Despite big names Abhimanyu Easwaran, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and Ishan Kishan falling early, Gharami made sure his team did not stumble and skittle out for a low score.
The 27-year-old had impressed last season with 797 runs from nine games. He scored three hundreds in the season, including a mammoth 299 against Andhra. He also scored 146 runs against eventual champion Jammu & Kashmir in the semifinal.
