Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who missed the first Test against England due to a finger injury, will return to the playing XI for the second Test at Lords starting on August 28,
In a press conference ahead of the match, Azam said he has regained 90% fitness, and confirmed he would available for the rest of the series.
“I had a couple of practice sessions,” Babar said. “I’m 90% fit for tomorrow and the rest of the series.”
Babar’s return provides a much-needed boost to a Pakistan team looking to bounce back from a demoralising innings defeat in the first Test at Headingley.

“I think we were not playing up to our mark (in the first Test) but credit to England for the way they are playing. After that we sat to discuss our mistakes and now we are looking forward to the match, believing in ourselves and we will try to play good cricket.”
The Lord’s Test will mark the first time Babar will enter the field as Pakistan captain on English soil.
“Always when you lead the Pakistan team, especially at this ground, it is an honour for me and I will do my best. If it is on the field as captain or when I’m batting, I will just play my game.”
It will be interesting to see who makes way for Babar, and if Pakistan opt for a tweak in the combination.
Should the team choose to drop Asan Awais, then one of Shan Masood or Abdullah Shafique, one of the lone bright spots in the batting department over the last month, will have to move up the order to open the batting.
Changes are expected on the bowling front too, after a disappointing performance at Leeds.
