The BCCI has no immediate concerns over the accommodation and facilities for India’s cricketers at the upcoming Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, secretary Devajit Saikia said on Thursday.
“There is no such issue which we have discussed or which is in our agenda today or prior to today also,” he said.
Saikia, however, said the BCCI would step in if required to ensure the players and support staff have the necessary facilities in Japan.
“If any kind of situation arises, we’ll take an appropriate call at the right time and so that we ensure that our players and the support staff will get the best of facilities in Asian Games, whether it is from their organizers,” he said. “If required, BCCI will have its own system in place to provide the best facilities to our players.”
The BCCI is also looking to make arrangements for three net bowlers at the request of head coach VVS Laxman, who will oversee the Indian team at the Asian Games.
The Board is working on Japanese visas for Mayank Yadav, Kartik Tyagi and Mohsin Khan. If the visas are arranged, the three fast bowlers will travel to Japan as net bowlers and remain with the squad until the start of the tournament.
The BCCI will entirely fund their travel and stay, with no cost to the government.
India is the defending champion in both the men’s and women’s competitions, having completed the double at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
