England head coach Brendon McCullum said he intends to continue in the role despite \u200bhis side\u2019s exit from the T20 World Cup 2026 following a \u200cseven-run defeat to holder India in Mumbai \u200bon Thursday.<\/p>\n

McCullum, 44, took charge of England\u2019s \u2060test setup in 2022 and added the white-ball responsibilities in January 2025 under a contract running through 2027.<\/p>\n

His tenure \u200chas included a difficult stretch, notably a 4-1 Ashes defeat in Australia that prompted the \u200cEngland and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to launch \u200ca \u201cthorough \u2060review\u201d into the team\u2019s preparations in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cI \u2060love the job. It\u2019s a great job. It doesn\u2019t come without its challenges, of course, but that is the nature of \u200bit,\u201d McCullum told Sky \u200cSports<\/i>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel we have achieved some really cool things over the last few years, but there is still so much to achieve with the side, \u200cacross all formats. A bit of time to \u200breflect, to let things land and objectively look at what is and isn\u2019t working.\u201d<\/p>\n

England \u2060fell short in its pursuit of 254 despite a blistering 105 off 48 balls from Jacob Bethell on \u200cThursday, and McCullum praised both the innings and the fight shown by the white-ball group under captain Harry Brook.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the white-ball side has been exceptional post-Ashes, winning away in Sri Lanka and then getting to this stage at the T20 World \u200cCup,\u201d McCullum said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we have played some good cricket \u200bwith a real identity about it under Brook\u2019s captaincy. Harry Brook\u2019s leadership throughout, after a couple \u2060of tough months leading in\u2026 for him to have \u2060the mental fortitude to be able to galvanise the team, and connect the side how \u200che has, it\u2019s been superb,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

England will next host New Zealand in a three-match test \u200bseries in June.<\/p>\n
