Mitchell Santner, the New Zealand captain, admitted that the Powerplay overs in both the essays turned to be the decisive factor during its annihilation by India in the Men\u2019s T20 World Cup final here on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the tale of the day was the two Powerplays. They were 90 for none and we were three for 40,\u201d Santner said after the final. \u201cWhen you come up against a very good team in a final, you always want to do well. We obviously know that we weren\u2019t at our best tonight and if you aren\u2019t at your best against a very good team, you are going to be exposed and that\u2019s what we were tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n

While India openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma took their time to get going \u2013 scoring just 12 off two overs before going berserk to add 80 more runs in the next four overs \u2013 New Zealand contributed handsomely by bowling wide of the stumps way too early in the innings.<\/p>\n

\u201cCredit to Sanju and Abhishek at the top to get 90 (92) off the Powerplay.\u201d Santner said. \u201cIt is pretty tough from there (to come back). It was a pretty good wicket throughout. There wasn\u2019t much for the bowlers. The cutters weren\u2019t really holding, not much spin. Either way you look at it, if we could have got a couple in the Powerplay, squeeze them a little bit through the middle, 220 could have been chased down on a very good wicket.\u201d<\/p>\n
