Earlier, it was reported that a charter flight for the West Indies and \u200cSouth Africa T20 World Cup teams scheduled to fly to Johannesburg before \u200ccontinuing on to Antigua was cancelled \u200cearlier \u2060on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Some players and staff have \u2060departed and others are scheduled to leave on different flights on Tuesday and Wednesday, CWI said in a \u200bstatement. West Indies was eliminated from the tournament\u2019s Super Eight stage on March 1 but remained in India as its charter flight organised by \u200cthe International Cricket Council (ICC) was repeatedly delayed.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs \u200bis customary for both men\u2019s and women\u2019s ICC World Cups, all travel \u2060and accommodation arrangements for participating teams are coordinated and managed by the ICC,\u201d CWI \u200csaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cOngoing uncertainty surrounding the ICC-organised charter, as a result of global tensions and aviation regulations, made the situation increasingly distressing.\u201d<\/p>\n
West Indies coach Daren Sammy and South African players Quinton de Kock and David Miller \u200chave accused the ICC of leaving them stranded, pointing \u200bout that the England team returned on a charter flight within two \u2060days of losing in the semifinals to India.<\/p>\n
\u201cMultiple \u2060approaches have since been made through CWI, players, and other partners, in \u200ccoordination with the ICC, to secure commercial travel to facilitate the squad\u2019s safe return,\u201d \u200bCWI added.\u00a0<\/p>\n
