West Indies\u2019 Chris Gayle previously held the record for the highest score by a captain, with 98 in 2010 and 88 in 2009, holding it for over 16 years until Brook surpassed it. Meanwhile, Brook also became the first English captain to register a T20I century. The previous highest was Eoin Morgan\u2019s 91 against New Zealand in Napier on 8 November 2019. Brook\u2019s century was the first to be conceded by Pakistan in a T20WC.
