Aadhaar digital ID support started in Google Wallet, know how it will work<\/span><\/figure>\n

Google has started Aadhaar based digital ID support in India through Google Wallet. Now users can keep their Aadhaar information safe in digital form in Wallet. This means that the need to carry physical Aadhaar card everywhere will reduce.<\/p>\n

This feature has been developed in collaboration with UIDAI i.e. Unique Identification Authority of India. After adding Aadhaar to Google Wallet, users will be able to show their identity in a secure manner. The most important thing is that there will be no need to share the entire Aadhar card.<\/p>\n

‘Verifiable Credential’ model has been used in this system. If you understand in simple language, if somewhere you only need confirmation of your age or identity, then you can share only that information. This will not reveal your complete Aadhaar number or other personal information. This improves both privacy and security.<\/p>\n

Google says that this feature is based on global security standards and features like selective disclosure have been provided in it. That means the user himself will decide which information to share.<\/p>\n

This feature can be used at many places. For example, tasks like age verification to watch movies on PVR INOX, identity verification on BharatMatrimony, visa application auto-fill on Atlys, and visitor verification on Mygate will become easier.<\/p>\n

Google said that many more services will adopt this system in the coming time. This will make digital identity even easier and more secure. Apart from India, Google is also expanding the digital ID feature in countries like Singapore, Taiwan and Brazil. There the passport based ID can be stored in the wallet.<\/p>\n

This new Aadhaar feature of Google Wallet is a step to increase both convenience and security for the people. Now the need to repeatedly show physical documents to prove identity can be reduced.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
