In conditions tailor-made for batting,\u00a0Abhishek\u00a0Sharma and Travis Head (76, 30b, 4×4, 8×6) fired in tandem for the first time this campaign, setting up a chase during which the scoring rate barely dipped below two runs a ball. Heinrich\u00a0Klaasen\u00a0(65 n.o., 30b, 7×4, 4×6) ensured there were no late jitters, sealing a commanding win.<\/p>\n

The result left MI \u2013 with its sixth loss in eight games \u2013 on the brink of being the first team to be ousted from the\u00a0playoff\u00a0race, while\u00a0SRH\u00a0continued its surge with its fifth consecutive win.<\/p>\n

The mammoth chase was a statement. Head shrugged off a quiet tournament to go on the offensive, while\u00a0Abhishek\u00a0extended his prolific run. Their 92-run\u00a0PowerPlay\u00a0effort during a 129-run stand all but sealed the contest. The Mumbai outfit\u2019s missed opportunities \u2014 a dropped catch by\u00a0Naman\u00a0Dhir\u00a0and an\u00a0unappealed\u00a0edge off Trent\u00a0Boult\u00a0in the third over \u2014 only compounded their woes.<\/p>\n

Though spinner\u00a0A.M.\u00a0Ghazanfar\u00a0struck off successive deliveries in the ninth over, removing\u00a0Abhishek\u00a0and\u00a0Ishan\u00a0Kishan,\u00a0Klaasen\u2019s\u00a0controlled aggression made sure\u00a0SRH\u00a0cruised home with eight balls to spare.<\/p>\n

Earlier,\u00a0Rickelton, drafted in for the injured Quinton de\u00a0Kock, made an immediate impact. He raced to a 23-ball fifty and later brought up his century off 44 deliveries \u2014 the third by a MI batter this season. Alongside Will Jacks, he powered the host to 78 without loss in the\u00a0PowerPlay, the pair adding 93 for the opening wicket.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0Nitish\u00a0Kumar dismissed Jacks with his first delivery and\u00a0Suryakumar\u00a0Yadav\u00a0fell cheaply to a short ball from\u00a0Eshan\u00a0Malinga,\u00a0Rickelton\u00a0maintained the tempo. A brisk 55-run partnership with\u00a0Naman\u00a0kept the runs flowing, and the southpaw\u2019s knock was marked by clean hitting, the standout being a straight drive off Pat Cummins.<\/p>\n

Hardik\u00a0Pandya\u2019s burst of 31 off 15 balls meant MI crossed the 200-run mark for the third time this season.<\/p>\n

SRH\u2019s\u00a0inexperienced pace duo of\u00a0Praful\u00a0Hinge and\u00a0Sakib\u00a0Hussain, along with left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey, were taken apart. However, the last four overs saw\u00a0Sunrisers\u00a0conceding only 41 runs to pull things back a little. The late fightback proved invaluable as\u00a0SRH\u00a0produced the highest successful\u00a0IPL\u00a0chase against MI.<\/p>\n
