K. L. Rahul topped the Indian Premier League (IPL) run-scoring charts with a match-winning knock in \u200bDelhi Capitals\u2019 (DC) seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals on Friday, \u200csaying individual milestones mean more when they help \u200bthe team win.<\/p>\n

Rahul has been DC\u2019s \u2060most consistent performer this season, registering three half-centuries and one century despite the team\u2019s mixed results.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old struck 75 \u200coff 40 balls, with six fours and five sixes, as DC snapped a three-match losing \u200cstreak and completed their highest successful run \u200cchase \u2060of 226 in the IPL.<\/p>\n

Rahul had earlier \u2060hit an unbeaten 152 in a defeat against Punjab Kings, a knock that drew praise but did not bring the desired \u200bresult for the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter \u200cplaying for so many years, numbers do matter,\u201d Rahul said at the post-match presentation.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re happy that you score runs and you score these big \u200cruns and break records. But if you \u200bdon\u2019t get the win after the game, it\u2019s not as much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rahul has been \u2060in strong form this season and he credited it to work on maintaining a higher strike rate to \u200csuit the demands of modern day T20 cricket.<\/p>\n

While he is enjoying a good run in the tournament, he acknowledged that DC had slipped up in key moments despite pushing hard in earlier games.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis competition and T20 cricket doesn\u2019t allow you a \u200csecond chance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it was important that we take \u200bour chances and when we\u2019re ahead, really press hard and finish the game, which \u2060we weren\u2019t doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

DC was also boosted by the return \u2060of Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who took three wickets in his first match of \u200cthe season after months on the sidelines with elbow and shoulder injuries.<\/p>\n

Sixth-placed DC next faces Chennai \u200bSuper Kings on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
