As Kolkata Knight Riders prepares for a key stretch, Matheesha Pathirana\u2019s availability has emerged as a gripping subplot. The pacer linked up with the squad in Kolkata on April 19 after receiving clearance from Sri Lanka Cricket but has yet to feature in a game.<\/p>\n

Pathirana trained here on Saturday, raising hopes of his availability against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, bowling coach Tim Southee chose to be tentative about his inclusion, given the mandatory overseas pool shuffle that must follow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been around the group for a while now. We\u2019ll assess the conditions and make a decision,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTeams that have been able to take wickets early have set up their innings nicely. [Against SRH] it\u2019s important to try and win the PowerPlay by taking wickets as early as you can.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an exciting challenge for our bowlers. We know how dangerous SRH is, especially the top three and then the likes of Heinrich Klaasen in the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n
