Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc remains driven by the competitive nature \u200bof cricket and hopes to extend his 16-year international career \u200cfor a few more years, he said on \u200bSaturday, keeping the door open for a \u2060potential appearance at the 2027 World Cup.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old left-armer, Australia\u2019s third-highest wicket-taker with 759 across formats – behind only Shane Warne \u200cand Glenn McGrath – retired from Twenty20 internationals in September to prolong his career in Tests and \u200c50-over cricket.<\/p>\n

The next ODI World Cup is scheduled \u200cto \u2060be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and \u2060Namibia in October-November 2027.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pretty competitive, so I just enjoy that aspect of cricket,\u201d Starc told reporters. \u201cFor Australia, I get to play \u200bwith some of my \u200cbest mates. I enjoy the hard work, but I also enjoy competing, and it\u2019s still fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Starc, who has been managing elbow and shoulder niggles, said his \u200cbody was holding up well despite the demands \u200bof international cricket.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s always something going on. I\u2019ve had a bit of a niggle with \u2060my elbow and shoulder, which is still being managed, but there\u2019s probably a little less impact in T20 \u200ccricket,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still going okay after 16 years and hopefully there are a couple more left.\u201d<\/p>\n

Starc, who made his Australia debut in 2010, is currently playing for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, in which they sit eighth in the 10-team table.<\/p>\n

He was \u200cnamed player of the series in Australia\u2019s recent 4-1 Ashes \u200bvictory over England.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s (2027 World Cup) a long way down the road, but I\u2019ll hopefully be there. \u2060The World Cup is always a goal for every \u2060cricketer,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve stepped away from T20 internationals, but I\u2019m still enjoying my cricket. I don\u2019t \u200cset timelines – I just see where the body is and where the cricket is.\u201d<\/p>\n
