{"id":166968,"date":"2026-05-13T12:47:58","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T18:17:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newslink360.space\/?p=166968"},"modified":"2026-05-13T12:47:58","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T18:17:58","slug":"key-urges-world-class-bowler-robinson-to-make-england-recall-count","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newslink360.space\/?p=166968","title":{"rendered":"Key urges \u2018world-class\u2019 bowler Robinson to make England recall count"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"content-body-70975672\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">England cricket chief Rob Key highlighted Ollie Robinson\u2019s eye-catching statistics after recalling the seamer for the first Test against New Zealand following two years in the international wilderness.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old Robinson has a superb record in five-day cricket, with 76 wickets at a miserly average of 22.92 in just 20 appearances.<\/p>\n<p>The Sussex bowler, however, has not played for England since February 2024 because of concerns over his fitness and ability to maintain his top speed over long spells.<\/p>\n<p>But England needs a new-ball spearhead at Lord\u2019s following the retirements of James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes and the absence of express quick Jofra Archer.<\/p>\n<p>Archer is unavailable for the first Test, which starts in London on June 4, due to Indian Premier League commitments, meaning Robinson could find himself leading England\u2019s attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I said when we left him out the last time, to him and publicly, that Ollie Robinson, when he\u2019s fit and bowling at a decent pace for him, which is around 82, 83 miles per hour, he is world-class,\u201d said Key.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you look at his record, he is one of the few bowlers right up there statistically in all the bowlers globally of all time,\u201d he added Wednesday after announcing England\u2019s squad for the first Test at Lord\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Key, a former England batter, said Robinson, now the Sussex captain, had been monitored closely and appeared to be firing on all cylinders.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/sportstar.thehindu.com\/cricket\/england-test-squad-new-zealand-series-full-list-of-players-zak-crawley-dropped-emilio-gay\/article70973958.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">England Test squad vs New Zealand<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOllie has started the summer really well, and even the other day he said, \u2018what do I need to do?\u2019\u201d, said Key.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, you need to show that you can maintain your skill, your speed throughout the game.
