Lucknow Super Giants\u2019 (LSG) head coach Justin Langer is the latest to join the \u200bVaibhav Sooryavanshi fan club, saying bowlers need to worry because the \u200c15-year-old batting sensation is only going to improve.<\/p>\n
Hailed as \u200ba generational talent even before his international debut, \u2060Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Sooryavanshi has pulverised attacks in his second Indian Premier League season.<\/p>\n
The left-hander is currently the league\u2019s highest scorer, piling \u200cup runs at a staggering strike rate of 236.32. He has also clobbered 53 sixes, including 10 \u200cagainst Langer\u2019s LSG on Tuesday, and could still surpass \u200cChris \u2060Gayle\u2019s 2012 record of 59, with RR having \u2060one match left.<\/p>\n
Sooryavanshi\u2019s 93 off 38 balls helped RR overwhelm LSG\u2019s 220 for five with five balls to spare, prompting lavish praise from former Australia batter Langer.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn \u200ball my time, I\u2019ve \u200cseen some amazing players in 35 years of cricket,\u201d Langer told reporters after their seven-wicket defeat in Jaipur.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo see a young man bat like that, not just tonight but \u200cthroughout the series, is breathtaking.\u201d<\/p>\n
Langer was stunned by how \u200bSooryavanshi handled elite fast bowlers, including Australia\u2019s Mitchell Starc and South Africa\u2019s Anrich Nortje.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s quite incredible \u2060, actually, to be able to play that way, and now have the (leading scorer\u2019s) orange cap.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo the scary thing going forward, if \u200cthe expressions on the face of Mitch Starc and Nortje and every bowler tell a story now, what about when he learns how to bat?<\/p>\n
\u201cMy gosh, he\u2019s so young. He\u2019s a brilliant player, and it\u2019s a real privilege to watch him bat, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n
Langer said Sooryavanshi would only become more dangerous \u200cas he learns to adapt to different conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019ll adapt, he\u2019ll keep \u200bgetting better and better, which is scary for world cricket.\u201d<\/p>\n
While fans and pundits are eager to see \u2060Sooryavanshi fast-tracked into the senior India side, selectors are not rushing \u2060him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe picked him for the India A team because he is young and immensely promising,\u201d selection panel chairman \u200cAjit Agarkar said on Tuesday. \u201cWe are very excited about him, and hopefully he can showcase his talent when \u200bhe travels with the A team.\u201d<\/p>\n
