{"id":171738,"date":"2026-05-24T11:37:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T17:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newslink360.space\/?p=171738"},"modified":"2026-05-24T11:37:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T17:07:16","slug":"jofra-archers-ipl-stay-a-collaborative-decision-says-rajasthan-royals-head-coach-sangakkara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newslink360.space\/?p=171738","title":{"rendered":"Jofra Archer\u2019s IPL stay a \u2018collaborative decision\u2019, says Rajasthan Royals head coach Sangakkara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"content-body-71018696\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">As the debate continues within England cricket over Jofra Archer\u2019s decision to remain in the IPL ahead of the home Test against New Zealand, Rajasthan Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara insisted the fast bowler\u2019s extended stay was the result of a \u201ccollaborative decision\u201d involving both the player and the ECB.<\/p>\n<p>Archer, who is working his way back to red-ball cricket after a long injury layoff, has faced criticism from former England captains Michael Atherton and Michael Vaughan for continuing in the IPL instead of returning early to prepare for the Test series against New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Sangakkara, however, suggested the ECB had factored Archer\u2019s workload management and long-term bowling targets into the decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s a collaborative decision from what I know. I don\u2019t want to speak out of turn about things I don\u2019t know with certainty, but I think it was a collaborative decision between the ECB and Jofra,\u201d Sangakkara said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then talking about his bowling goals, especially in a Test match.
