When a 16-year-old Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan for his India debut in 1989, his elder brother Ajit accompanied him to offer reassurance through the biggest moment of his young life.<\/p>\n

Thirty-seven years later, another teenage prodigy is set to embark on a similar journey. As 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi prepares for his maiden series with India\u2019s senior men\u2019s team in Ireland and England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has allowed his parents to accompany him on tour.<\/p>\n

Given his age, the Board felt that the presence of family would help him adjust to the demands of international cricket and life on the road.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs he is a child, we have decided to allow his parents to accompany him to Ireland and England, so that they can be with him and help him settle in the new environment. The Board will cover all their expenses,\u201d BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told\u00a0 Sportstar<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Sooryavanshi is currently in Sri Lanka with the India A side for the tri-nation series. However, with the spotlight around him growing by the day, the Board\u2019s leadership believed that having his parents around would be the best support system as he takes his first steps in international cricket.<\/p>\n

During his breakthrough IPL season with Rajasthan Royals, Sooryavanshi was often accompanied by team manager Romi Bhinder, whom he regarded as a guardian figure within the setup. The support network around him is now set to grow as he enters an even bigger arena.<\/p>\n

And the scrutiny will only intensify from here.<\/p>\n

Every innings will be analysed, every failure amplified and every success celebrated. That is often the burden that comes with extraordinary talent.<\/p>\n

Yet Sooryavanshi has already demonstrated that he belongs on the biggest stage. The left-hander forced his way into national reckoning after a sensational IPL campaign, amassing 776 runs at a staggering strike rate of 237.30. Now with India A in Sri Lanka, he has become the youngest player selected in an India men\u2019s squad since Tendulkar\u2019s arrival transformed Indian cricket in the late 1980s.<\/p>\n

With the Ireland T20Is beginning on June 26, both Sooryavanshi and India captain Tilak Varma might miss the tri-nation tournament final in Sri Lanka\u2014scheduled for June 21\u2014should India A qualify. A final call on that is expected within the next few days.<\/p>\n
