England suffered another setback ahead of the second Test against New Zealand at The Oval, with fast bowler Ollie Robinson ruled out on Sunday due to a knee injury.<\/p>\n

Robinson, who claimed match figures of 7-77 in England\u2019s 115-run victory in the series opener, joins captain Ben Stokes and fellow pacer Gus Atkinson on the sidelines. Stokes and Atkinson were omitted from the squad on Wednesday while an investigation into an off-field incident continues.<\/p>\n

Atkinson played a key role in England\u2019s win at Lord\u2019s, taking 5-30 in New Zealand\u2019s second innings to seal the victory.<\/p>\n

Robinson will remain with the squad and undergo rehabilitation on his knee ahead of the third and final Test, which begins on June 25 at Trent Bridge. Uncapped fast bowler Henry Crocombe has been called up as cover.<\/p>\n

The England and Wales Cricket Board is investigating what it described as a \u201cbreach of team protocols\u201d involving Stokes and Atkinson during a night out following England\u2019s first-Test win at Lord\u2019s last Sunday. Reports have alleged that a member of England\u2019s security staff was struck by a rugby player from Saracens.<\/p>\n

The episode has intensified scrutiny over the culture and professionalism of England\u2019s Test setup following its disappointing Ashes campaign. Reports suggest a midnight curfew was introduced for players and support staff in the aftermath of that tour.<\/p>\n

With the 35-year-old Stokes unavailable, former England captain Joe Root will lead the side in the second Test.<\/p>\n
