But, it works brilliantly on full-frame cameras via crop mode, too. Image quality is superb, autofocusing is fast and for me it\u2019s the perfect \u2018day lens\u2019 to stick on your camera and take shots as you walk around and explore new towns and cities on your travels. A set of \u2018sticks\u2019 allows you to lock off your camera to eliminate camera-shake, which you\u2019d get from hand-holding your camera with slow shutter speeds in low light situations. They also help you to take your time with your compositions, too.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not, however, always possible to take a full-blown tripod on your travels. Perhaps it\u2019s too big or overweight for your flight restrictions, or it would attract too much attention. In these situations I turn to a GorillaPod, and I\u2019ve used many different iterations of these flexible supports over the years. They are much smaller and easily fit inside or attach to the outside of your camera bag, but still allow you to lock off your camera to catch those long exposures &#8211; perfect for blurring cars into traffic trails, or taking astro photos.<\/p>\n<p>The only downside is they\u2019re much smaller than a tripod, so to get height you need to wrap the adjustable legs around a railing, lamppost or similar to elevate your camera off the ground \u2013 luckily there\u2019s never a shortage of these in busy city centres. A plug socket to power up from isn\u2019t always guaranteed when you need it and I myself have been to islands during my travels where I\u2019ve not had power for many days.<\/p>\n<p>A little tip is to carry plenty of spare batteries, you can also purchase specific battery cells for many camera brands which have a USB-C port on them for direct charging without a battery dock and many new cameras now have the ability to charge the battery in situ via a USB-C port too.<\/p>\n<p>For extra juice though, I recommend a power bank like the Ronegn which has a large 20,000mAh capacity and four built-in cables: Lightning, USB-C, Micro USB and USB-A so you can charge up all of your gadgets when you\u2019re on the move and don\u2019t have access to a plug socket.
