Monsoon season is coming and in such a situation it is important to keep your electric car ready. Heavy rain, waterlogging, humidity and wet roads can pose a challenge to the battery, motor, charging system and electronic parts of the EV. But there is no need to panic. With a little care and proper preparation, you can drive your car safely, full of performance and for a long time even in monsoon.<\/p>\n

Pre-monsoon checkup not only prevents breakdowns and costly repairs, but also makes your driving comfortable and safe. Whether you go to office every day or go out for a walk on the weekend, by adopting these easy tips you can enjoy the rains without any tension. In this article, we have brought for you the 5 most important and practical tips, which every EV owner must follow.<\/p>\n

1. Checking the Battery and Charging System<\/h2>\n

Get your battery health checked before monsoon. Water and moisture can affect the battery terminals. Keep the charging port and cable clean, look for any cracks or looseness. If the car has to be parked in water, keep the battery between 20-80%. Avoid overcharging and check the waterproofing of the charger installed at home. Get regular software updates that improve battery management.<\/p>\n

2. Tire and brake system care<\/h3>\n

Roads are slippery during monsoon. The tread depth of tires should be at least 4mm. Keep the air pressure correct because low pressure on wet roads can cause loss of control. Get brake pads, discs and fluid checked. Test the regenerative braking system. There is less possibility of brake damage in EV, but it is necessary to check once during monsoon.<\/p>\n

3. Waterproofing and sealing<\/h3>\n

Check the rubber seals of the door, boot and charging port of the car. There should not be any cracks. Get professional undersealing done to prevent water from entering the underbody and motor space. Do not drive the car excessively in areas with high water level. If there is a danger of getting stuck in water, drive in emergency mode.<\/p>\n

4. Wipers, Lights and Electrical System<\/h3>\n

Replace wiper blades if they are old. Check headlights, taillights and indicators thoroughly. Water getting inside may cause short circuit. Test AC and defogger system as there is more fog in monsoon. Keep all fuses and wiring connections intact.<\/p>\n

5. Cleaning, Storage and Emergency Preparation<\/h3>\n

Clean the car thoroughly, especially around the battery pack. Use drying agents that absorb moisture. Keep the battery at 50% charge when parked for a long time. Keep torch, first aid, charging cable and tow rope in your emergency kit. If possible, get a full inspection done from an EV service center.<\/p>\n
