{"id":190500,"date":"2026-07-06T03:08:37","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T08:38:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newslink360.space\/?p=190500"},"modified":"2026-07-06T03:08:37","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T08:38:37","slug":"delhi-high-court-seeks-central-government-response-to-plea-challenging-gymkhana-club-eviction-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newslink360.space\/?p=190500","title":{"rendered":"Delhi High Court seeks Central government response to plea challenging Gymkhana Club eviction move"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#333333\" data-test-id=\"text\">Justice <strong>Avneesh Jhingan<\/strong> issued notice to the government and posted the matter for further hearing on July 28.<\/p>\n<p>The Estate Officer of the Land &amp; Development Office (L&amp;DO) had issued show cause notice to Gymkhana last week after Central government filed a plea seeking their eviction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Solicitor General <strong>Tushar Mehta<\/strong>, appearing for the government, pointed out that he was served with a copy of the applications only yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>He further said that the the hearing before the Estate Officer is scheduled for July 7 but the applicants may seek adjournment before the Estate Officer and have it taken up after the court hearing on July 28.<\/p>\n<p>Additional Solicitor General <strong>Chetan Sharma<\/strong> and Central Government Standing Counsel (CGSC) Ashish Dixit also appeared for the Centre. Senior Advocate <strong>Abhishek Manu Singhvi<\/strong> and advocate Naman Joshi\u00a0appeared for the member Vijay Khurana. Senior Advocate <strong>Jayant Mehta<\/strong> along with advocate Yash Johri appeared for the Club\u2019s staff welfare association<\/p>\n<p>The two applications by Gymkhana Khurana and another by the Club\u2019s staff welfare association were filed in already pending suits. <\/p>\n<p>The pending suits before the High Court challenge government&#8217;s earlier order to vacate the premises.<\/p>\n<p>While hearing the pleas in May, the High Court had <a aria-label=\"content\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.barandbench.com\/news\/litigation\/delhi-gymkhana-club-centre-tells-delhi-high-court-eviction-will-happen-only-after-notice\" rel=\"noopener\">refused to pass any interim orders against the directive. <\/a>This came after SG Tushar Mehta informed the Bench that any eviction action would be taken only after due notice. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.barandbench.com\/news\/litigation\/delhi-high-court-seeks-central-government-response-to-plea-by-challenging-gymkhana-club-eviction-move\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Justice Avneesh Jhingan issued notice to the government and posted the matter for further hearing on July 28.
