India\u00a0bowler\u00a0Gurnoor Brar\u00a0was on Thursday\u00a0handed a\u00a0warning\u00a0for breaching\u00a0level one of\u00a0the ICC Code of Conduct during the\u00a0first ODI\u00a0against\u00a0England\u00a0in\u00a0Birmingham.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brar\u00a0was found to have breached Article\u00a02.9\u00a0on Tuesday, which relates to\u00a0\u201cthrowing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate and\/or dangerous manner during an international match”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition to this,\u00a0one\u00a0demerit point\u00a0has been added\u00a0to\u00a0Brar\u2019s\u00a0disciplinary record, for whom it was\u00a0a first\u00a0offence\u00a0in a 24-month period.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The incident occurred in the\u00a0eighth\u00a0over of\u00a0England\u2019s\u00a0innings,\u00a0when\u00a0Brar\u00a0picked up the ball\u00a0while fielding and threw\u00a0it towards the batter.\u00a0Brar\u00a0admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by\u00a0match referee Richie Richardson. The need for\u00a0a formal\u00a0hearing didn\u2019t arise.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On-field umpires\u00a0Kumar Dharmasena\u00a0and\u00a0Mike Burns, third umpire\u00a0Sam Nogajski,\u00a0and fourth official\u00a0Russell Warren had\u00a0levelled the charge.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player\u2019s match fee, and one or two demerit points. When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points, and a player is banned.<\/p>\n
