India team management has thrown its weight behind struggling opener Rohit \u200bSharma amid speculation back home that Sunday\u2019s \u200cthird one-day international against England at Lord\u2019s \u200bcould be his last.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old \u2060managed a laboured 26 off 47 balls on Thursday as England won the second match in Cardiff \u200cto level the three-match series.<\/p>\n

Rohit has now gone 11 ODIs without a \u200chundred and his poor run of \u200cform \u2060raises questions about his place for \u2060next year\u2019s World Cup, which South Africa will host along with Zimbabwe and Namibia.<\/p>\n

Reports from Indian media \u200bsuggest that the 39-year-old former \u200cIndia captain has been informed that the selectors have decided to \u201cmove on\u201d.<\/p>\n

Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, however, said white-ball stalwart Rohit \u200cwas \u201ctoo good\u201d a player to feel any \u200bpressure.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, he didn\u2019t get runs, but I don\u2019t think that makes \u2060any difference,\u201d Kotak told reporters after Thursday\u2019s loss, dismissing suggestions that Rohit was struggling.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn a \u200cparticular day, many batters don\u2019t get the momentum they are looking for, and that can happen. You might see a completely different innings from Rohit Sharma at Lord\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRohit probably didn\u2019t get balls in his areas \u200cand didn\u2019t get going. That\u2019s what I felt. \u200bSo I wouldn\u2019t say he was struggling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former India captain Rohit is the \u2060only batter to have scored three 200-plus scores \u2060in ODIs, including a 264 against Sri Lanka, which remains the highest score \u200cby a batter in this format.<\/p>\n

Rohit has already quit Test cricket and T20 \u200bInternationals.<\/p>\n
