Shubman Gill\u2019s tenure as India\u2019s ODI and Test captain has started off with mixed results in both formats.<\/p>\n

The recent ODI series lost against England is Gill\u2019s third in four he has led India in since becoming the full-time captain.<\/p>\n

The star Indian batter was handed over the Test captaincy after Rohit Sharma retired from the format in May 2025. The BCCI management also gave the leadership role to Gill in the ODI format when India toured Australia for three matches.<\/p>\n

So far, Gill has led in 12 ODI matches and nine Tests. In the 50-over format, he has won six games and lost as many. In the red-ball format, Gill has lost three matches, drawn one and won five.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s Shubman Gill\u2019s series-by-series record as India\u2019s captain in Tests and ODIs:<\/b><\/p>\n

1) India tour of England (Away) \u2014 5 Tests in June 2025. Result: 2-2 \u2014 Series draw<\/p>\n

2) West Indies tour of India (Home) \u2014 2 Tests in October 2025. Result: 2-0 \u2014 India win<\/p>\n

3) India tour of Australia (Away) \u2014 3 ODIs in October 2025. Result: 1-2 \u2014 Australia win<\/p>\n

4) South Africa tour of India (Home) \u2014 2 Tests in November 2025. Result: 0-2 \u2014 South Africa win (Note: Gill only led in first match)<\/p>\n

5) New Zealand tour of India (Home) \u2014 3 ODIs in January 2026. Result: 1-2 \u2014 New Zealand win<\/p>\n

6) Afghanistan tour of India (Home) \u2014 One-off Test in June 2026. Result: 1-0 \u2014 India win<\/p>\n

7) Afghanistan tour of India (Home) \u2014 3 ODIs in June 2026. Result: 3-0 \u2014 India win<\/p>\n

8) India tour of England (Away) \u2014 3 ODIs in July 2026. Result: 1-2 \u2014 England win<\/p>\n
