Introduced earlier this week on July 30, it was taken down after a day or so, following reports of people misusing it, as well as customer criticism.<\/p>\n<div class=\"also-read print-hide\" data-ga-label=\"AlsoReadArticle\">\n<div class=\"element\">\n<div class=\"picture\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/th-i.thgim.com\/public\/incoming\/7ntt79\/article70738469.ece\/alternates\/SQUARE_80\/2025-08-08T094400Z_1411127628_RC291W9KPS54_RTRMADP_3_ALPHABET-SOUTHKOREA-MAP.JPG\" data-original=\"https:\/\/th-i.thgim.com\/public\/incoming\/7ntt79\/article70738469.ece\/alternates\/SQUARE_80\/2025-08-08T094400Z_1411127628_RC291W9KPS54_RTRMADP_3_ALPHABET-SOUTHKOREA-MAP.JPG\" alt=\"\" data-device-variant=\"SQUARE~SQUARE~SQUARE~SQUARE\" class=\"media-object lazy adaptive placeholder lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The AI image generation feature was powered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/technology\/google-rolls-out-nano-banana-2-after-viral-success-of-ai-image-generation-tool\/article70682467.ece\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Google\u2019s Nano Banana 2 AI model, which enjoyed viral popularity at the time of its initial launch and sparked multiple AI-image trends.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While Google did not provide examples of the AI-generated content that violated its policies, screenshots on Elon Musk-owned X showed realistic satellite images featuring false terror attacks, industrial accidents, and other forms of violence.<\/p>\n<p>Some Google users expressed concerns that the technology could be used to spread propaganda or false news about the impact of ongoing conflicts and environmental disasters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that people uniquely trust Google Earth for a reliable view of the world. We\u2019ve seen geospatial professionals using this feature for a range of useful purposes, however we\u2019ve also seen people sharing screenshots of generated imagery that appear to violate our policies.
