Root replaced Ben Stokes \u200cafter the all-rounder retired following the home series \u200bagainst New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Fleming succeeds compatriot Brendon McCullum, \u2060whose four-year test tenure ended last month, though he remains England\u2019s white-ball coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I\u2019m being brutally honest, it was a big \u200creason why I wanted to do it,\u201d Root told the ECB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very \u200cexcited by the way he sees the game, \u200cwhere \u2060he sees us sit as a team, and \u2060the work that we have to do to get to where we want to get to.
