However, it is understood that Bumrah, who missed the Lord&#8217;s ODI owing to an impact injury sustained while fielding in Cardiff, continued to experience discomfort during his rehabilitation and has now been withdrawn from the squad. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>The setback is a major blow for India&#8217;s transitioning Test side, which has lost two home Test series over the past two years and has had mixed results outside of it. Bumrah, currently the world&#8217;s top-ranked Test bowler, has had his workload carefully managed since suffering a back injury during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>As part of that workload management, he featured in only three of the five Tests in England last year before being rested for the Afghanistan Test immediately after IPL 2026.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<p>No replacement has been named yet.
