Who is Virandeep Singh? Malaysia Captain in IPL Auction 2026

Virandeep Singh, the 26-year-old captain of Malaysia, is the only associate-nation player in the IPL 2026 auction pool. A late addition to the final list after missing the early 350-player shortlist, he enters the mini auction at a base price of Rs. 30 lakh.

He made his international debut against Thailand in 2019. A genuine three-skill option, Virandeep can bat in the top order, bowl left-arm spin and also keep wicket. For Malaysia, he has built one of the most substantial T20I resumes outside the Full Member structure: 3115 runs in 110 matches at an average of 37 and a strike rate of just under 127, including a career-best 116 not out against Indonesia in 2023. He also has 22 fifties and remains Malaysia’s most consistent run-scorer.

His bowling returns are equally striking in the associate circuit. Virandeep has taken 109 wickets in 110 T20Is with an economy of 5.57 and an average of 13.82, numbers that reflect control rather than part-time spin.

He featured in the ILT20 last season with Sharjah Warriorz but did not get a game.
