WATCH: Nathan Lyon goes past Glenn McGrath, becomes 6th-highest wicket taker in Tests

Australia’s Nathan Lyon became the sixth-highest wicket taker in Test cricket during the second day of the third match of the ongoing Ashes series at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, on Thursday.

Lyon required two scalps to go past compatriot and former pacer Glenn McGrath’s tally of 563 wickets. The 38-year-old off-spinner did the job in his first over itself.

With his third ball, he had Ollie Pope caught by Josh Inglis at midwicket. On the final delivery, he hit the top of off stump to dismiss England opener Ben Duckett.

Lyon is the most successful Test bowler amongst active cricketers with fellow Aussie Mitchell Starc (420) in second place.
