“The government plans to introduce a special package for them [organisations] to ensure that no one goes hungry in the city,” she said.
Ms Gupta visited Atal Canteens in Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura of north Delhi. On Thursday, the Delhi government inaugurated 45 Atal Canteens to provide meals twice daily at subsidised prices. While beneficiaries pay ₹5 per meal, the remaining ₹25 cost per plate is borne by the government. Each canteen is expected to provide around 1,000 meals daily. Once all 100 canteens planned become operational, over one lakh people are expected to receive meals every day across the city.
