Three fishermen from Rameswaram were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy mid-sea near Neduntheevu in the early hours of Sunday (December 28, 2025). Their trawler was impounded.

Police said the seized trawler was among the 335 mechanised boats which left Mandapam fishing jetty on Saturday.

The boat with three fishermen on board — A. Amostin, 25, and S. John Das, 38 of Thangachimadam, Paraloga Sebastian, 26, of Mandapam — was intercepted by the Sri Lanka Navy on charges of poaching and detained, according to initial reports.
