Actress Elnaaz Norouzi recently spoke about a pivotal moment during Sacred Games Season 2, revealing that she had nearly walked away from the project over an intimate scene with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. In a conversation with News18 Showsha, the actor reflected on how her approach to on-screen intimacy had always been guided by intent rather than shock value.

Elnaaz Norouzi reveals she nearly quit Sacred Games 2 over an intimate scene with Nawazuddin Siddiqui: “I didn’t want to do that scene”Elnaaz explained that she never viewed bold scenes as an automatic yes or no, emphasising that her decisions depended largely on how a moment was written and whether it served the story. “I think it really depends on the situation and, more importantly, on how it’s written,” she said. “Even something like a kissing or intimate scene has to serve a purpose. Is it adding anything to the story at that moment? Is it necessary? Does it change something in the narrative?”

For her, intention mattered more than optics. “If it does, then it should be there. But if it’s included just for the sake of it, then you have to question why it’s there at all. In that case, I can choose not to do it,” she added.

The actor also highlighted the importance of communication and collaboration on set, noting that creative discussions played a key role in her comfort as a performer. “I feel that if you’re working with a good director, a strong script, and great producers, you’ll understand why you need to say what you do. And if you don’t, I have a voice — I can always talk to my director, try to understand it. After all, it’s a collaborative project,” she said.

Recalling her experience on Sacred Games Season 2, Elnaaz revealed just how close she came to declining the role altogether. “On Sacred Games Season 2, there was an intimate scene with Nawazuddin Siddiqui that was written in the script. I was almost about to say no to the show because I didn’t want to do that scene,” she shared.

What ultimately changed her mind was director Anurag Kashyap’s approach. According to Elnaaz, Kashyap ensured she felt heard and comfortable throughout the process. “He was so amazing. He invited me and my entire team home. We sat over lunch. We spoke about the scene. He told me how he’s going to shoot it, so I’m comfortable doing it,” she said.

That conversation proved decisive. “We needed that scene because it was important to show in the series, but he also made sure that I’m comfortable while doing it,” Elnaaz added, underscoring how trust and sensitivity shaped her final decision.
