2026 EV lineup in India: Maruti, Tata and Hyundai plan to roll out SUVs, MPVs and facelifts

Sierra returns: Tata Motors will follow with the Tata Sierra EV, recently spotted under camouflage. The production model is expected to maintain the silhouette of the ICE version while adding EV-specific elements. Tata plans AWD and RWD options, reflecting the approach taken with the Harrier EV. The company is targeting a launch window around mid-2026 for the electric Sierra.

Kia EV plan: Kia is preparing the electric Syros for India after global testing revealed a boxy profile and familiar lighting and wheel design traits. Feature expectations mirror the ICE variant, including a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and driving modes. Positioned as a late-2026 arrival, the Syros EV aims to extend Kia’s footprint in India’s mass-market electric portfolio.

Toyota derivative: Toyota’s Urban Cruiser EV, arriving in early 2026, will be an electric derivative of the e Vitara and was previewed in concept form at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. It will share core battery specifications and hardware with Maruti’s model, while Toyota will differentiate the product through exterior styling and a revised interior layout to protect brand identity in the segment.

Vinfast MPV: Vinfast will introduce the Limo Green in February 2026 as its third India model. Already sold globally, the seven-seat electric MPV measures 4.7 metres and uses a 60.1kWh battery with a claimed 450km range. The vehicle is positioned as an option against electric MPVs such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the BYD eMax 7.

Punch refresh: Tata will update the Punch EV with its first facelift in 2026, expected in the first half of the year. The refresh will add cosmetic changes, new colours and feature upgrades while retaining existing battery choices. These additions sit within a broader pipeline, with more EVs likely to join the 2026 roster as product plans evolve.

Ioniq update: Hyundai will launch the Ioniq 5 facelift by June 2026 with exterior revisions, extra physical controls and larger battery options. Internationally, the SUV offers 63kWh standard-range and 84kWh AWD formats, but India is most likely to receive the 84kWh RWD version with a WLTP range of 570km. Pricing is expected near ₹50 lakh, above today’s ₹46.3 lakh.

Compact contender: Vinfast’s VF3 will target city buyers and compete with the MG Comet when it launches by June 2026. The compact EV features a 191mm ground clearance, an 18.6kWh battery and a 43.5hp motor. Pricing is expected between ₹8 lakh and ₹10 lakh, and Vinfast plans a Battery-as-a-Service subscription to further lower the initial cost barrier.

Premium pipeline: Skoda is evaluating the Elroq and Enyaq for India, with one likely by late 2026; the Elroq, shown at Auto Expo, appears more probable at around Rs 45 lakh and offers multiple RWD battery options plus a 340hp AWD version claiming 560km. Tata, meanwhile, will debut its Avinya brand’s first Gen-3 skateboard-based EV by 2026-end, positioned above the Harrier EV line.
