Emraan Hashmi, Sharad Kelkar, Zoya Afroz, Amruta Khanvilkar, director Neeraj Pandey, Tanya Bami, Head of Series, Netflix India, and others attended the trailer launch of Taskaree in Mumbai. Emraan took the cake with his replies and entertained the audience.

Emraan Hashmi smiled and replied, “You’re getting me into trouble now!”.

He then confessed that he’d like to smuggle a “lot of things”.

Emraan Hashmi looked at Neeraj Pandey and said, “I think Neeraj knows the answer to it. It’s between both of us. I think he and I want to smuggle the same thing. I’ll never let you know what that is (laughs).”

He joked, “I am actually travelling soon, that too internationally. Agar kisi ne (yeh video) dekh liya, toh seedha rok denge mujhe airport pe.”

This led to a follow-up question, “Have you ever been stopped at a green channel?”

Emraan Hashmi answered, “No. Whenever I have returned to India, the custom officers have been very sweet to me. It’s a typical thing actually. There’s no logic to it. When you learn to drive a car, you might be driving the vehicle well but when you spot an RTO officer, uska khauff jaata nahin hai hai! Similarly, when I started travelling alone, I may have packed only clothes. Yet, I always fear that I am carrying 100 kilos of contraband in my bag!”

He added, “I had that fears for years. It’s dumbfounded. There’s no logic to it. However, I have been called out at the immigration checks very early on, while I would travel alone. Maybe, it had something to my earrings. Now, they see me with my sweet family and they don’t suspect me (smiles). But in early 2000s, I used to get whisked away on the side. They call it ‘profiling’. I fit the bill of something or someone. I don’t know who that person is!”

Taskaree releases on Netflix on January 14.
