VinFast to launch VF Limo Green MPV in India by 2026, eyes major EV market surge

VinFast is preparing to launch the VF Limo Green, a seven-seater multipurpose vehicle (MPV), in India in February 2026, Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau told CNBC-TV18 in an exclusive interview. The Vietnamese EV maker secured a design patent for the Limo Green in India in August 2025, and the forthcoming launch will further expand the company’s presence in the country.
Chau described the Limo Green as “a family car” and said he expects it to trigger an “explosion in the Indian market”, citing the model’s strong performance in Vietnam.
Chau added that responses to VinFast’s cars in India “have been fantastic”, noting that EV penetration in the country has grown significantly this year. “The future is huge,” he said.Looking ahead, Chau confirmed that VinFast intends to bring its full product lineup to India, with the VF9 among the models under study.

The Vietnamese automaker

launched the VF6 and the VF7 electric SUVs in India in September this year. The VF6 is available in three variants, with prices starting at ₹16.49 lakh, while the VF7, offered in five variants, starts at ₹20.89 lakh.Discussing the Indian market, Chau acknowledged that “balancing premium positioning with India’s price sensitivity is a challenge”. However, he said the lower-segment models — the VF5 and VF3 — will deliver premium quality while ensuring “affordability without compromising standards”.

This competitive pricing approach is expected to challenge domestic EV manufacturers such as Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra.

The Limo Green was reportedly spotted undergoing test drives in India earlier this month, following the circulation of online spy shots showing the camouflaged vehicle.

VinFast is also preparing to enter India’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler market by 2026, and will begin product testing and market assessments before deciding which models to introduce.

Chau said the company respects the dominance of established Indian OEMs and leading EV players but believes VinFast can bring distinct technology and design to the segment.

Reports also indicate that VinFast plans to open 35 dealer touchpoints and 26 workshops across 27 cities in India by the end of the 2025 calendar year.
