The Government of Karnataka, through its Department of Electronics, IT & BT, on January 19 announced the release of ₹1.93 crore, one of the largest grants under Beyond Bengaluru mission, to Vertex Managed Workspace, Mangaluru.

The grant is a significant development in the State’s mission to build strong technology hubs beyond Bengaluru.

New engines of innovation

“This milestone represents one of the first and largest grants under the Beyond Bengaluru Mission to a workspace operator outside Bengaluru,” said Priyank Kharge, Minister for Electronics, IT & BT, Government of Karnataka.

“By backing enterprise-grade workspace platforms in emerging cities, we are creating new engines of employment and innovation. Vertex’s scale and long-term commitment in Mangaluru reflect exactly the kind of impact-driven growth Karnataka is aiming to enable,” said Mr. Kharge, adding that the government is viewing Mangaluru as a strategic contributor to the national growth story.

N. Manjula, Secretary, Dept of IT-BT, Government of Karnataka, noted that the government is hoping to see the Beyond Bengaluru clusters contributing close to 10% to the State’s digital economy in the next five years.

Expansion on the anvil

Vertex Managed Workspace provides enterprise-ready managed workspaces for startups, SMEs, and multinational firms. It is Karnataka’s largest enterprise-grade managed workspace platform beyond Bengaluru, with more than 2,250 workstations in Mangaluru that host over 40 companies, including global enterprises and GCCs.

The grant release was facilitated by Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM). Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, CEO, KDEM, hoped that the development would encourage other emerging tech cities to join hands with the government to create the next wave of tech clusters supporting the Beyond Bengaluru framework.

Gurudatta Shenoy, Managing Partner, Vertex Managed Workspace, stated that the company would now expand rapidly to 6,000 seats, further positioning Mangaluru as a preferred destination for start-ups, GCCs, investors and global enterprises.
