Cyberabad police register FIR at complainant’s home in theft case

A day after Telangana police announced spot registration of First Information Reports (FIR) in select cases, the Cyberabad police on Wednesday registered a FIR at the complainant’s residence in a burglary case under the Dundigal Police Station limits.

According to the police, the complainant, Tummalapalli Nagender Krishna Chaitanya, reported a theft at his residence in Green Woods Villa, Gagillapur, around 10 a.m. on Wednesday (January 21). He told the police that his family had travelled to Vijayawada for Sankranti and returned home late on January 20, only to find the back door broken open and the cupboard locker forced open.

The complainant reported that two kilograms of silver, 10 grams of gold and ₹5,000 in cash were missing from the house. Dundigal Detective Inspector M. Bal Reddy and his team reached the spot, received the complaint at the residence and registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Sub-Inspector Rammohan later handed over a copy of the FIR to the complainant at his residence.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh said that if victims report a crime immediately, either over the phone or in person, the concerned police officer will reach the victim’s residence, the scene of the incident or the hospital where the victim is undergoing treatment, and register the complaint on the spot before issuing a copy of the FIR.
