What is the highest successful run chase in T20Is in India?

India set New Zealand a target of 239 runs in the first T20I at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on Wednesday.

If New Zealand overhauls this total, it will be the highest successful run chase in a T20I played in India. The current record belongs to England, which shot down 230 against South Africa in 2016.

Against India, the highest target overhaul stands at 223 runs, achieved by Australia in Guwahati in 2023.

India’s 238 for seven was its highest total against the Kiwis in the format. The Men in Blue posted the mammoth total courtesy of Abhishek Sharma’s flamboyant 84 off 35 balls, which included eight sixes.

The southpaw reached his fifty in just 22 balls, which is also a record for India against this opposition.

Though Abhishek set the platform up front, Rinku Singh and Hardik Pandya who provided the final flourish. Rinku notched up an unbeaten 44 off just 20 balls while Hardik added 25 off 16 balls.
