Nine injured, four seriously, in dog attack in Dharwad; canine stoned to death

Nine people were injured, four, including a five-year-old boy, seriously, in a rabid dog attack at Shiradi Layout near University of Agricultural Sciences here on Wednesday.

An enraged public killed the rabid dog with stones.

The victims have suffered multiple wound marks on their bodies.

Sheetal Kabadi, Gangavva Uppar, Laxmi Madar and five-year-old Rishik who have suffered serious injuries are being treated at the District Civil Hospital along with five who have sustained comparatively fewer injuries.

Complaining about the menace of stray dogs in the locality, the residents accused the municipal corporation and the local gram panchayat of inaction despite repeated appeals.

The residents said that as Shiradi Layout is on the periphery of the municipal corporation limits, neither the civic authorities nor the gram panchayat officials have responded to their problem.

No action has been taken on the menace of stray dog despite complaints being filed a fortnight ago, they said.
