On January 2, 2027, the court had directed Mr. Thakur to “forthwith cease and desist from being associated with the working of BCCI”.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said Mr. Thakur was “hitherto free to participate in the affairs of the BCCI as per the rules and regulations”.
The court had passed the ‘cease-and-desist’ direction against Mr. Thakur for failure to implement the Justice Lodha Committee reforms in the BCCI.
The Bench of Chief Justice Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi on Thursday (February 5) lifted the embargo on Mr. Thakur considering the fact that he had given an unconditional apology and he has been unconnected with the BCCI for nine years now.
