An old interview of Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla from the time of Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani has resurfaced on social media, giving fans a nostalgic glimpse into their long-standing friendship. The Lehren TV clip, now widely shared, features the two actors reminiscing about their first meeting on the sets of Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman—and it’s packed with playful banter.

Juhi Chawla recalls her hilarious first impression of Shah Rukh Khan: “From which angle does he look like Aamir Khan?”Recalling the early days of her career, Juhi shared, “Years ago, I had just done Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and a few other films. And then I met Vivek Vaswani who was the executive producer of Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. And he came to me and told me about the film. He told me a lot of good things about the film. And Aziz ji will direct it. I was like, okay, sounds nice. So I asked ‘who is co-starring with me?’ He said, ‘There is a new boy and he is from television. You must have seen Fauji. I was like, I haven’t seen Fauji’.”

At this point, Shah Rukh Khan chimed in with a cheeky remark: “Her background is not that educated”. Juhi instantly shot back, laughing: “Shahrukh, I didn’t have time for television. I was a busy artist even then”. She continued, “So, I hadn’t seen him. They said, no, but he is very good. He is a very good actor and he looks like Aamir Khan. So I was like, yeah. If he is like that, that would be very nice. Because I had started off with Aamir. So I thought, something like that will happen. I didn’t meet him. And I went to the sets to shoot for Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman.

“And there I saw Shahrukh and what did I see? I saw a thin, brown boy. His hair was long. His eyes were coming out. I was like, this? This is the hero and this is like Aamir Khan? But like Shahrukh says, it was too late by then. I had signed the film.” Interrupting her, SRK quipped: “You had taken the money”. Juhi laughed and clarified, “It’s not about the money. But anyway, I was in the film. I am just saying this in fun. But I was really like, Aamir Khan? From which angle does he look like Aamir Khan?” Shah Rukh added with mock pride, “She always thought I was better”.

Juhi concluded on a warm note, “But as I got to know him, actually he was very, very nice. Now that you ask me, I remember when we had started working, though he was new to films, he was very confident and he was not at all like a newcomer. He was more at home with the unit than I was. I remember he came and chatted with me, tried to be friendly so that when we worked together there would be no awkwardness. It was really good company because I used to laugh a lot at his jokes. I still do”.

Over the years, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla have not only shared screen space in multiple films but have also gone on to become business partners, further cementing a bond that clearly began with laughter and light-hearted teasing.
