The duo reached the score of 247 in 323 deliveries against Uttarakhand in the semifinal and overtook the existing second-wicket record of 246 runs set by Madhav Kaushik and Aryan Juyal for Uttar Pradesh against Karnataka in the 2024 season.
After being asked to bat, Karnataka lost Mayank Agarwal early. However, Rahul and skipper Padikkal smashed centuries, piled on the runs and dominated the Uttarakhand bowlers.
The highest second-wicket partnership is currently held by Shubham Sharma and Harsh Gawli, as they forged a 373-run partnership for Madhya Pradesh against Uttar Pradesh last season.
Earlier in the quarterfinals, Karnataka sealed its spot in the semifinal with a tense four-wicket victory over Mumbai at the MCA-BKC Ground. Rahul’s century helped his team chase down the target of 325.
