Dia Mirza calls husband Vaibhav Rekhi “my home” as she marks 5th wedding anniversary with a heartfelt note!“The night we met the stars rejoiced / 5 years side by side / Vaibhav, you are my home. Our kids and our life together, my sanctuary.”

The message, simple yet intimate, offered a glimpse into the life the couple has built since their 2021 wedding — one rooted in partnership, family and shared values.

A Wedding That Sparked Conversations

Dia and Vaibhav’s wedding in February 2021 drew widespread attention for more than just its elegance. The ceremony stood out for its conscious choices and progressive symbolism.

A few days after the wedding, Dia had shared a detailed note explaining the thought behind their intimate celebration. “The garden where I have spent every morning for the past 19 years was an absolutely magical setting and the most intimate and perfect space for our simple and soulful ceremony! We are so proud to have been able to organise a completely sustainable ceremony without plastics or any waste. The materials used for the minimal decor we went for were completely biodegradable and natural.”

She also highlighted what she described as the “highest point” of the ceremony — a Vedic ritual conducted by a woman priest. “I had never seen a woman performing a wedding ceremony until I attended my childhood friend Ananya’s wedding a few years ago. Ananya’s wedding gift to Vaibhav and me was to bring Sheela Atta who is her aunt and also a priestess, to perform the ceremony for us.” The couple had also chosen to forgo traditional rituals such as ‘Kanyadaan’ and ‘Bidaai’, with Dia noting at the time, “Also, we said NO to ‘Kanyadaan’ and ‘Bidaai’ change begins with choice doesn’t it?”

Over the past five years, Dia and Vaibhav have largely kept their personal life away from the spotlight, occasionally sharing moments that reflect their bond as partners and parents.
