Pine Labs partners with OpenAI; Building a guilt-free dessert brand

Data centres, democratisation and digital transformation—Day 4 of the AI Impact Summit was all about the big picture of India’s AI future. 

Mukesh Ambani unveiled plans to invest Rs 10 lakh crore in AI over the next seven years—one of the largest commitments made towards AI infrastructure in India.

The goal, according to Ambani, is to recreate Jio’s data playbook: lowering AI costs while extending access across the country. 

Meanwhile, Tata Group, Tata Consultancy Services, and OpenAI have entered a multi-dimensional partnership to deliver AI-led solutions, which also includes developing AI infrastructure with a 100 MW capacity, with an option to scale to 1 GW.

The OpenAI Foundation and TCS are also collaborating to provide AI training and resources to the Indian youth.

Fitting, considering over 100 million people in India use ChatGPT weekly, with more than a third of them being students. Additionally, India is also the fastest-growing market for Codex, OpenAI’s vibe coding agent. 

That, according to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, makes India one of OpenAI’s most strategically important markets, on both consumer and developer uptake. 

Amid all the AI and tech talk, a small human moment from the summit went viral across social media—Altman and Anthropic PBC CEO Dario Amodei refusing to clasp hands during a symbolic show of AI unity. 

Much like hope, rivalry, too, springs eternal.

Pine Labs partners with OpenAI

Pine Labs, a merchant payments company, is integrating ChatGPT-maker OpenAI’s artificial intelligence models directly into its core systems to autonomously optimise the workflows behind transactions.

The architecture would allow AI agents to autonomously navigate complex financial tasks such as negotiating supplier terms, optimising cross-border settlement cycles, and managing recurring bill payments within predefined user guardrails, the companies said in a statement.

Building a guilt-free dessert brand

When entrepreneur Sandeep Jangala began experimenting with healthier baking at home, he wasn’t thinking about launching a food startup—he was thinking about his daughter.

Jangala saw potential in starting a food business. With his wife Sonia Lamba, he began a small cloud kitchen focused on healthier desserts. That experiment has since grown into Yummy Bee, under parent company VLOGS Food Private Limited. Founded in 2022, the company now operates cafés and cloud kitchens in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, serving sugar-free and gluten-free meals and desserts.

Tasty treats:

• Yummy Bee initially launched as a cloud kitchen focused solely on sugar-free desserts. Physical cafes weren’t part of the original plan. But customer behaviour quickly reshaped the business.
• The company operates a 4,000 sq ft R&D facility in Hyderabad, staffed by around 40 chefs and nutritionists. Every product undergoes months of testing before launch, the founder says.
• Current R&D efforts include millet-based croissants, sourdough burgers, and low-calorie beverages that deliver familiar taste with significantly reduced sugar content.

In October last year, Jayashree Vijay Mohan achieved two Guinness World Records in the CIH (Coordination impairment – hemiplegia) category—for the fastest ascent and descent of Mount Kilimanjaro by a female climber.
