He said, “with the blessings of ‘Puratchi Thalaivar’ MGR and ‘Puratchi Thalaivi’ Amma” – referring to former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa – Mr. Stalin would win the upcoming Assembly elections and return to power. His remarks drew loud applause from members of the DMK-led alliance. After the House was adjourned, Mr. Panneerselvam met Mr. Stalin.
Meanwhile, members of the 16th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly shared bonhomie during the final sitting of the House. Minister for Municipal Administration moved a motion to adjourn the House sine die at 1.44 p.m., following which Speaker M. Appavu adjourned the House sine die. AIADMK and BJP MLAs were not present in the House. Soon after the adjournment, members who were present greeted Mr. Stalin for successfully completing his government’s five-year tenure and exchanged pleasantries.
Earlier, after Mr. Stalin concluded his speech, leaders of various political parties, including K. Selvaperunthagai, G.K. Mani, M. Sinthanai Selvan, V.P. Nagai Mali, T. Ramachandran, T. Sadhan Thirumalaikumar, M.H. Jawahirullah, E.R. Eswaran and T. Velmurugan, spoke about the achievements of the DMK government over the last five years.
