Two Apple laptops at the same price: New MacBook Air M2 vs MacBook Neo, which one is better to buy?

Tech company Apple’s popular laptop MacBook Air M2 has now become much cheaper in India. Its price has come down to around ₹ 69,149 on some online retailers. This price is almost equal to Apple’s recently launched MacBook Neo, whose starting price has been kept at ₹ 69,900.

Let us tell you that the launch price of MacBook Air M2 (16 GB / 256 GB) was ₹ 1,19,900, but now it has become ₹ 69,149 and after the offer it has become ₹ 65,691. On the other hand, MacBook Neo was launched at ₹69,900 and is still priced at ₹69,900.

In such a situation, customers buying entry-level MacBook now have two options. On one side is the MacBook Air M2 with the M-series chip, while on the other side is the new MacBook Neo which has the A18 Pro chip.

Processor and performance
MacBook Air M2 has M2 chipset, which has 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU. Its base model has 16GB unified memory and 256GB SSD storage. This laptop is specially designed for running photo editing, video editing and creative apps on macOS.

Whereas MacBook Neo has A18 Pro processor, which includes 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU and 16-core neural engine. This chip is optimized for Apple Intelligence features.

Display and Design
MacBook Air M2 has a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display and weighs about 1.24 kg. It comes in Midline, Starlight, Space Gray and Silver colors.

MacBook Neo, on the other hand, has a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, whose brightness goes up to 500 nits. It weighs 1.23kg and is available in Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo colors.

Ports and Battery
MacBook Air M2 has MagSafe 3 charging port, two Thunderbolt ports and headphone jack. According to Apple, its battery can last for 18 hours. It also has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 support.

Whereas MacBook Neo does not have MagSafe charging and it has to be charged from USB-C port. Its battery life is said to be up to 16 hours. It has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 6 support, but there is no Thunderbolt port.

Keyboard and other features
Touch ID is available in the base model of MacBook Air M2 and it has a four speaker system. Touch ID is not available in the base model of MacBook Neo. For this one has to buy 512GB model. It has two speakers and dual microphone system.

Which MacBook is better to buy?
If you want a MacBook for video editing, coding or creative work, then MacBook Air M2 can be a better option because it has M-series chip and more power.

At the same time, if you are a student or office user and want a new MacBook which has Apple Intelligence support and long software updates, then MacBook Neo can be a good option.
