Google has introduced a new feature in its Find Hub app, with the help of which passengers will be able to share the real-time location of lost baggage in flight with airlines. This feature works through a secure link and will help the airline staff to locate the luggage quickly. Currently, many international airlines, such as Turkish Airlines, have started supporting it, making it easier than ever for passengers to recover lost luggage.

Losing luggage during a flight is one of the most frustrating experiences for passengers. To solve this problem, Google has introduced a new feature in its Find Hub app. With the help of this feature, passengers will be able to share the location of their lost baggage directly with the airline, which will help in finding the luggage quickly.
Many international airlines have started adopting this new facility. These include Turkish Airlines, which along with Google has adopted this feature as its launch partner.
- How does Find Hub’s baggage tracking feature work?
This new feature allows passengers to share the real-time location of their bags, provided the baggage has a compatible tracker tag. This allows the airline staff to see the exact location of the bag and helps in recovering it quickly. - Find and share locations
Passengers open the Find Hub app on their Android phones and select the item they want to search for. After this, on tapping on the ‘Share item location’ option, a secure link will be created. - Share link with airline
This link can be shared by passengers during baggage claim through the airline’s website or app. After this, the airline team can see the updated location of the bag through that link. - You can stop sharing anytime
Complete control over location sharing remains with the passengers. If they wish, they can stop location sharing at any time through the app. - Special attention given to privacy and security
Google says that this feature has been designed keeping privacy and security in mind. The location link automatically expires after 7 days. Apart from this, users can also turn it off manually whenever they want.
Also, the location data remains completely encrypted so that no one else can access it. As soon as the item is returned to the owner, location sharing stops automatically. This new feature can prove to be very helpful for passengers, because it will make the process of finding lost baggage faster and easier than before.
