New Delhi. The web service of messaging platform WhatsApp suddenly fell victim to a technical glitch on Friday morning. In many parts of the world including India, users faced problems in accessing WhatsApp on their computers or laptops. This problem became a headache especially for those who depend on the desktop version for their office work.
According to the data of Downdetector, a major website that tracks outages, reports of disturbances started being registered from around 8:54 am on Friday morning. There was a sudden increase in these complaints around 9:00 am. Maps and data show that users in many major cities of India were having trouble connecting to the server.
Problem in QR code scanning
Users have mainly complained about two major problems. First, when users were trying to login by scanning the QR Code, the device was not able to link. The second problem was regarding ‘Chat Sync’ and even after login, old chats were not loading or there was a delay in receiving or sending messages.
The anger of the users erupted
As soon as there was a problem in WhatsApp, the hashtag #WhatsAppDown started trending on the microblogging platform. A worried user wrote, “Is WhatsApp down for everyone? I have been trying to link my iPhone to my desktop for the last hour, but I am not able to login.” Many other users shared the screenshot and said that the web version is stuck on ‘connecting’ mode.
