New Delhi. These days, news of shortage of LPG cylinders is spreading rapidly in the country. Due to tension in the Middle East, gas supply is being affected, due to which delivery is getting delayed at many places and people are panicking and booking more than before. If you are also living in this fear then there is no need to take much tension. On one hand, the government has said that there is no shortage of LPG in the country, on the other hand, gas companies have shared some important tips, by which you can save up to 25% of LPG. This means that your one cylinder can now last for 10 to 15 days more. These tricks are so easy that everyone can follow them.

Gas companies like Indian Oil and BPCL have posted on their social media and told people that by adopting smart methods while cooking, up to 25% gas can be saved. The most important trick is to reduce the flame immediately after anything starts boiling. Food does not cook quickly on high flame, rather the gas burns more. On low flame, heat is maintained in the vessel and the food gets cooked properly. Apart from this, other companies and experts are also saying that by making these changes, households can run the cylinder for a longer time.

Domestic consumption is high, hence adopt these tips

For the last few years, LPG prices have been fluctuating globally. Under the Ujjwala scheme, poor families get subsidy, but the common middle class has to pay the full price. The war-like situation in the Middle East has affected the supply chain, due to which the fear of shortage has spread in India as well. Earlier people used to book a new cylinder in 21 days, but now the government has made it 25 days, so that black marketing stops. LPG consumption is highest for domestic use. This is around 86%. In such a situation, methods of saving have become very important.

  1. By using a pressure cooker, 30-50% gas can be saved, because the food cooks quickly.
  2. By soaking grains and pulses for 20-30 minutes or overnight, food cooks 20-40% faster.
  3. Cooking with a lid on the vessel saves up to 30% gas.
  4. Keeping the burner clean keeps the flame blue and burns less gas.
  5. Use a vessel of the correct size, so that the flame does not come out of the sides of the vessel.
  6. Cook two or three things at once or do batch cooking, so that there is no need to light the stove again and again.
  7. Use induction or microwave for light work.
  8. These small changes can lead to overall savings of up to 25-30%, which means savings of up to Rs 200-300 a month are possible.
